John Shaw The Tides Beach Club

Born and bred in Kennebunk, Chef Shaw has stuck close to his roots with a focus on New England flavors and local Maine products.  He joined The Tides Beach Club in May 2011 as Executive Sous Chef and as Executive Chef in 2012 reworked the menu to emphasize fresh, seaside favorites.

Prior to joining The Tides Beach Club, Shaw worked as Executive Chef at the Kennebunkport Inn, where Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay called his meal at One Dock, under the direction of Shaw, the best meal he had while visiting Maine in an interview in Portland magazine.

Shaw currently splits his time with Maine in the summer and Colorado in the winter where he is Chef of the night dining operation at four point’s restaurant at steamboat ski resort

Shaw also worked as a Sous Chef at Ye Olde England Inne in Stowe, VT, Sous Chef at Sheraton Resort steamboat springs, CO and Chef de cuisine atWindows on the Water in Kennebunk, ME. He graduated from the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT.

Intimate dinners in exquisite private homes prepared by acclaimed chefs, featuring multiple courses and wines paired with each. Proceeds support Full Plates, Full Potential, Maine’s effort to eliminate child hunger in our state.

The Kuehnle residence on North Street was built circa 1795 for John Blunt. The house contains much of the original woodwork and floor plan from 220 years ago. Several notable individuals from the Port’s history have owned the property, including Lt. Tobias Lord, Samuel Davis, John Bell and George B. Carll.
